Remaja Nangroe Aceh Darussalam Pasca Tsunami
ABSTRACT: How
is the psychological development of adolescents in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam
(NAD) after the tsunami disaster? Can they reach their developmental tasks
normally? This was a descriptive type of research. The subjects of this
research were adolescent victims of the tsunami aged 12 to 17 years old in desa
Krueng Anoi Kota Baro Aceh Besar Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Data were collected
by means of observation, interviews, and Focus Group Discussion. The result of
the field study indicated that after the tsunami social changes happened in the
Aceh community that influenced the NAD adolescent’s behavior. These involved the new jobs available in the
informal sector,which lowered the adolescent’s motivation to attend school; the
appearance of consumptive behaviours on working adolescents; the declining of
adolescent’s interest on the local customs, including the Aceh arts. These
adolescent’s behavioural changes became an indicator of changes within
adolescent’s self identity formation.
