MENYOROT KEDUDUKAN DAN FUNGSI MRP (MAJELIS RAKYAT PAPUA) DALAM OTONOMI KHUSUS Dl PAPUA
Abstract: This article concern
the problems, particularly from the legal perspective, the implementation of Law
Number 21 of2001 on Special Autonomy for Papua Province, commonly referred to
Majelis Rakyat Papua (the Papuan Peoples Assembly). The MRP is intended to be
the cultural representative of indigenous Papuans. Its members must be
indigenous Papuans with one-third each of the membership being adat (the
traditional tribal communities), religious and womens representatives. The MRP
is a unique body within Indonesia's system of governance and its exact role and
powers are laid out in some detail in Articles 19-25 of Special Autonomy. This
article will give descriptions about the functions of MRP and its authorities
in Special Autonomy for Papua Province. This article also will shows that the
MRP will give some influences in Indonesia system of governance.
