Peran Radio Komunitas dalam Menumbuhkembangkan Civic Community
Abstract: Community radio is a
unique communication media whose initial establishment, operational management
as well as its programming is solely carried
out by and
for the betterment
of community member
residing at remote areas. It is participatory media in a
sense that it provides public sphere through which horizontal communication
among participants take place. As such, it is seen as a fertile soil for
developing a civic community whose member has keen interest in discussing
common problem on equal position which bind them together through association
to collectively engage in civic virtues. This requires that
its initial establishment, operational
management follows the regulatory basis and its ideal
principles. Unfortunately, Mustika management knew nothing of those principles
leading its daily broadcasting similar to that of private radio.
