PEMANFAATAN SUBSPESIES hypogaea DALAM PERAKITAN VARIETAS UNGGUL KACANG TANAH (Arachis hypogaea L.) BERBIJI BESAR DAN BERPOLONG BANYAK DI INDONESIA
ABSTRACT: The bigger pod and seed size the higher yield
of peanut. The objective of this study was to evaluate agronomic characters
especially the size of pods and seeds of peanut lines in subspecies (ssp.)
hypogaea and F5 families derived from crossing between NC 7 and Kelinci. In
this study, two experiments were reported. The first experiment evaluated 10
lines of ssp. hypogaea using completely randomized block design with six
replications. The second experiment evaluated 22 F5 families derived from
crosses between NC 7 and Kelinci using completely randomized block design with three replications. Nine of ten lines
ssp. hypogaea evaluated in Experiment I showed at least one superior trait in
pod or seed size.
The result showed that early Bunch was superior in 10-seed length,
100-seed weight, the number of mature pods, and pod weight per pod. NC 7 was
superior in 10-pod width and 100-seed weight. Based on the results of
Experiment II, NC 7 and F5 family of NC
7 / K – 3 were superior in the number of pegs and total pods. The families F5 NC 7 / K - 5, NC
7 / K – 14, and NC 7 / K -16 were superior in the pod and seed sizes. Those
lines and families can be used as the
donor parents in sexual hybridization.
The families F5 NC 7 / K - 5, NC 7 / K – 14, and NC 7 / K -16 can be further
evaluated to develop high-yielding and large-seeded peanut.
