PENGARUH UMUR LEBAH RATU, JUMLAH SISIRAN ERAM, DAN PENYEKAT RATU TERHADAP PERTAMBAHAN BOBOT ANGGOTA KOLONI LEBAH APIS MELLIFERA
ABSTRACT: The aim of this
study was to discover the influence of queen age, the number of brood combs and
queen excluder on colony weight during the flowering (blossome) season. A trial
nested design was employed with 3 replications on 36 colonies. Artificial queens
were used, those aged 3 months (R3), 6 month (R2) and 1 year (R1) were placed
in colonies, consisting of 5 brood combs (S1), 3 brood combs (S2) together with
queen excluder (P1) and without queen excluder (P2). After 6 months the
colonies were examined.
The results show that there was a significant increase in colony weights
over the flowering season (P<0.01), and that this was influenced by queen
age, R3, R1 and R2 namely 2116.16±90.150, 1874.08±77.962 dan 1832.42± 96.640 g
respectively, whereas for the use of queen excluder, P1(S1), P1(S2), P2(S2) dan
P2(S1), it was 2227.85±75.267, 2126.78±64.911, 1754.89 ± 87.341 and 1654.04 ±
65.263 g respectively. And without noting colony weights at start of the
flowering season, by the end of the flowerin season the comulative colony
weight increase with queen excluder was higtly significant (P<0.01), where
colony weigth for P1(S1), P1(S2), P2(S2) and P2(S1) were 2295.89±92.253,
2126.67±94.281, 1689.33±111.980 dan 1651.67± 101.393 g respectively. Whereas
the effect of queen age on colony weight increase was also higtly significant
(P<0.01) the enfluence of queen age on relatively colony weigths was R3, R1
and R2 were 587.05±27.435, 499.33±24.565 dan 497.59±35.398 % respectively.
However, queen excluder P1(S1), P1(S2), P2(S2) dan P2(S1) were 616.60 ±33.061,
585.61±20.241, 474.33±29.952 dan 435.42 ± 20.692 % respectively.
Conclusion, queens aged 3 month, using queen excluder and a maximum of 5
brood combs gave the best results. Its is recomended that to got optimum colony
weigth the above management system should be used
