Kombinasi Sekat Dan Tanaman Air Untuk Optimalisasi Bangunan Penangkap Sedimen
Abstract: Suspended load
transported by irrigation water should be inhibited to enter irrigation
channels and farms due to its effects on channel and land aggradations. Current
sediment traps are perceived to be costly in land requirement and construction
cost. This research is intended to obtain an optimum length: width ratio for
sediment traps, in order to minimize land requirement by extending their length
without extra land. Previous research on wastewater suggested that combination
of baffle and macrophyte could increase sedimentation rate of sediment that
behaves as suspended solids. This objective is proposed by adding baffles into
the current sediment trap model, which is rectangular, followed by introduction
of macrophyte into certain models. This effort increases length: width ratio
significantly, depending on the number of baffles. Based on theory, the longer
the path, the more likely the sediment settles. However, more baffles do not
always increase sedimentation, since velocity and turbulence also take part in
sedimentation process.Experiment was conducted by introducing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
and 6 cross baffles with 5 discharge for each configuration. From the
experiment, it was found that the optimum sedimentation was gained by
introducing1, 2, and 3 baffles into the current model. These 3 models were
later run with combination with macrophyte. It was found that 3 baffles
combined with macrophyte, performed better in sedimentation, with an average
passing was 28.8%. This configuration resulted in an increase in Length: Width
ratio of 6.
