ANALISIS ENERGI PADA SISTEM ROTARY KILN UNIT INDARUNG IV, PT. SEMEN PADANG

ABSTRACT: The cement industry is an industry that use large amounts of energy. The process requires the most energy is combustion. In the combustion process is not all the heat is used for production, but there is the heat is wasted in large quantities, therefore the heat has used for combustion in the rotary kiln. In the history development, a rotary kiln cement is center process cement plants. In the rotary kiln being changes process the kiln feed to clinker. In this process requires a large energy where the main source of energy comes from coal. The existence of the changes process can be embankment in temperature in the area of rotary kiln so that the heat transfer process is higher. Therefore its need efforts to reduce wasted energy. Rotary kiln at Indarung Production Unit IV PT. Padang cement has a diameter of 5 m and 80 m long, for operations requiring an energy of 500 GJ / h. Of the total incoming power is 93.9% utilized for the production process, and 6.1% waste heat to the environment. Losses of heat recovery system from the shell by way of isolation can save energy by 19 GJ / h or can raise the efficiency of the rotary kiln at 8.3% overall.
