BESAR PENGARUH DUKUNGAN SOSIAL TERHADAP KUALITAS HIDUP PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI POLIKLINIK INTERNA RSUP SANGLAH
Abstract: Type 2
Diabetes mellitus (T2DM)
is one of
chronic metabolic disease
with number of sufferers
continues to increase
every year. T2DM
patients may undergo
a various alteration on
multiple aspects of
their life including
physical, psychological, social, and
environment, as result
of disease process
and its management. Improved patient’s quality of
life is the ultimate goal of all intervention choices and social support may
afford psychological reinforcement to achieve it. This study aimed to determine
the impact of social support on the quality of life of T2DM patients in
Internal Department of RSUP Sanglah. This was a qualitative observational
analytic study with crossectional subject-approach model. The samples comprised
36 T2DM patients aged ≥ 45 years who
visited Internal Department, chosen by consecutive sampling. Data collection
tools consisted of WHOQOL
Bref questioner and
Social Support Scale.
Statistical analysis using simple
linear regression demonstrated
significant correlation between
social support and patient’s quality of life (r = 0,977, and p value
0,000), the contribution of social support on quality of life was 95.5% (p
value 0.000) and the remaining as much as
4.5% of the
quality of life
was determined by
other factors. Moreover,
from the regression equation,
that was Y = 6,061 + 0,587X, showed that every one unit increased of social
support variable would
follow by increasing
on the score
of quality of
life about 0,587. In
the end we
concluded that, as
well as the
increasing of social
support, patient’s quality of life would improve too.
