HUBUNGAN PERAN IBU DENGAN TINGKAT SIBLING RIVALRYPADA ANAK PRASEKOLAH USIA 3-5 TAHUN DI WILAYAH KELURAHAN KETAWANGGEDE MALANG
Abstract: Sibling
rivalry is an
attitude of being
antagonistic and jealous
toward one’s biological sibling.
This kind of attitude can attach to 3-5 year old preschool children easily since
a preschool period is a critical period when children start to develop their
emotion. This jealousy occurs
for the sake of getting
more attention from
the mother. Out of
that context, the purpose of this research is to get some information on
the relationship between the mother’s role and the level of sibling rivalry on
the 3-5 year old preschool children. Moreover,
the research design
is a descriptive
analytic correlation with
cross sectional approach. The
data collection was done by using a purposive sampling with 57 people as the sample. In addition,
questionnaire that has been checked its validity and reliability was used as
the research instrument.
Then, the data
are analyzed by
using spearman rho correlation. The
result shows that
most of mothers
(43.9%) in Ketawanggede
region Malang are in a category of fair in doing their role as mothers
and their children’s sibling rivalry level
is moderate (43.9%). Moreover,
the test result of spearman rho correlation (r=0.289 with
p=0.03) shows that
there is an
existence of mother’s
role with as
sibling rivalry level of 3-5 year old preschool children. Based on the
result of the research, it is suggested that health officer should be able give
counseling on how mothers do their role as
a mother in
public health service.
If counseling is
well given, it is
hoped that those mothers
are able to
do their role
perfectly so that
the level of
sibling rivalry can be
minimized.
