GAMBARAN RISIKO PEKERJAAN PETUGAS PEMADAM KEBAKARAN DI DINAS PENCEGAH PEMADAM KEBAKARAN (DP2K) KOTA MEDAN
Abstract: Descriptive of
Firefighter Job Risk at Dinas Pencegah Pemadam Kebakaran (DP2K) Medan. The
development of an urban area has
brought a number of important issues, such
as the threat
of fire hazard.
The authorized institutions
to tackle fires is the fire department. The purpose of
this study was to determine the job risk faced by firefighters in Dinas
Pencegah Pemadam Kebakaran
(DP2K) Medan by
using a qualitative approach. Data
obtained from in-depth
interviews with members
of DP2K Medan
at Technical Unit I
using voice recorder.
The results showed
the job risk
of firefighters mostly when they
go to the location of fire, the risk of traffic, and when they extinguish fire
at the location of fire. Job risk at fire location like accidents due to
electricity, heat, fire, working at
height, equipment outages,
explosions, backdraft and
flashover, the condition of the
building on fire, sharp objects, and physical fights with people. Health complaints
that they feel in general is caused by many of the fire smoke inhalation such as cough,
shortness of breath,
nausea, vomiting, dizziness,
eye irritation, and
limp. Government and DP2K Medan expected to increase the amount of
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Firefighters are expected to always using
PPE on duty firefighting to minimize
unwanted risks. DP2K
Medan expected to
increase cooperation with
the police and department
of transportation to manage the traffic especially when the fire truck
will pass the road towards the location of fire.
