HUBUNGAN BERAT BADAN LAHIR DAN PELAYANAN KIA TERHADAP STATUS GIZI ANAK BALITA DI KELURAHAN TAMAMAUNG MAKASSAR

Abstract: Many factors affected the incidence of nutritional problems both directly and indirectly. This study aimed to determine the relationship of birth weight and maternal and child health services on the nutritional status of children under five in Sub Tamamaung Makassar. This type of study was a cross sectional analytic study. This study was  a part of the overall data collection on children under five in Sub Tamamaung. Data was collected through questionnaires and anthropometric measurements (body weight, and height) 369 Toddlers. The toddlers who became the samples, which had a data and a complete family of data (260 Toddlers). Determination of nutritional status carried out by using the indicators weight for height (BB/TB) and height for age (TB/U) based on the z-score WHO 2005. Data analysis was performed using chi-square test. The results showed there was a relationship between birth weight to the TB / U  status of infants (p = 0.037), there was no a relationship of birth weight with the BB / TB status of infants (p = 0.410), there was no relationship between the frequency of the Posyandu, ownership of KMS, and completeness of immunization with the status of the BB/TB and TB/U infants (p> 0.05). It was recommended to pregnant women to increase their energy intake during pregnancy to prevent low birth weight that would result from chronic malnutrition (stunting) in children. Although there was no relationship between the frequency of the MCH posyandu, KMS ownership status and completeness of immunization against acute malnutrition (wasting) and chronic (stunting) in children, but there was expected to pay attention to the mother's weight and height of theirchildren by routinely weighing the posyandu and controlling via KMS.
