MODIFIKASI ZEOLIT ALAM DENGAN LIGANEDTA UNTUK ADSORPSI ION LOGAM Pb2+ DAN Cd2+
Abstract: Zeolite represent
aluminosilicate with framework structure three dimension, owning cavity and
also channel which is interaction cause part of its surface become. Wide of
surface area and pore of zeolite was often exploited for adsorbs adsorbat. As
adsorben, sour situs and surface area of natural zeolite can modify with EDTA
ligan (acid ethylenediaminetetraacetic). With EDTA ligan expected the zeolite
become more selective to adsorbs of Pb2+ ions.In this research, natural zeolite
(ZA) was modified with EDTA ligan at concentration variation, that is 0,20 M,
0,15 M, 0,10 M and 0,05 M. Then, they were used to adsorbs Pb2+ and Cd2+ ions .
Adsorption of metal ions by ZA-EDTA was conducted at variation of: ( i) ZA
particle size 212 μ m, 125 μ m, and 90 μ m, (ii) ratio adsorbat/adsorben 20
mL/g, 30 mL/g, 40 mL/g and 50 mL/g. In this research was conducted by
comparison adsorption ability of ZA-EDTA to Pb2+ and Cd2+ with adsorption
ability ZA to Cd-EDTA and Pb-EDTA complexes.Result of research indicate that FTIR
spectra of ZA before and also after modification with EDTA ligan do not show
difference significantly. But, that way ability after modification with EDTA
ligan ( ZA-EDTA) to adsorp of metal was higher. Result of adsorption test to
Pb2+ and Cd2+ was indicating that highest adsorption by ZA-EDTA with the size
particle of ZA was 212 μ m, while the best of adsorbat/adsorben ratio for the
Pb2+ ion was 30 mL / g and for the Cd2+ ion was 20 mL / g. From comparison
which have been done was also known that adsorption by ZA-EDTA to Pb2+ and Cd
2+ ions better than adsorption ZA to Pb-EDTA and Cd-EDTA complexes.
