PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN CORE PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS X SMAN 9 PADANG

Abstract: The research was motivated by the lack of student’s mathematical communication ability class X SMAN 9 Padang. This circumstances have an  impact on student’s mathematics learning outcomes. Therefore, the research done by applying the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) learning model that is expected to be oriented to student activity. This research aims to determine whether mathematical communication ability of students studying by applying CORE learning model better than mathematical communication ability of students who studied with conventional learning in class X SMAN 9 Padang. The design of the research was the randomized control group only design where the population was the students of class X SMAN 9 Padang academic years 2013/2014. The research instrument was the final test in the form of essays, while mathematical communication ability’s rubric used used as a reference valuation. Hypothesis testing using t-test of the parties, the value of t = 2.090 is greater than the table = 1.669. Because of the value of t > t table then H0 is rejected and concluded that with the significant level of 0.05, mathematical communication ability of students who learned mathematics by applying CORE learning model better than mathematical communication ability of students who learned with conventional learning in class X SMAN 9 Padang.
