Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Paduan Kobalt dengan Variasi Cr Melalui Metode Peleburan sebagai Material Implan
Abstract: Used of
metal as bone

to grow,
demand also increases wi th
the number of
bone surger y cases
in Indonesia. Cobalt
allo y wi t h variati on of
Cr (28.5; 30;
31.5; 33, and
34.5%mass) have been
synt hesized by smelting method
that begins wi t h the compacti on,
fo ll owed by smelt ing using Tri Arc
Melt ing Furnace at
200A . Af ter
smelting process is
carried out by homogenizing process
at recrystallizat i on temperature
(1250ยบ C) for
3 hours to allow
the atoms to
diffuse and transform
into ฮณ phase, then
per formed a rolling process that
is acco mpanied by
heat ing at 1200ยบ
C for ± 15 minutes
and foll owed by quenching. This process is repeated until the obtained thickness of ± 1
mm. The results
showed that increasing
Cr compositi on can
stabilize the for mation of
ฮณ-phase, it is
characterized f rom increasing the ฮณ-phase
percentage of XRD test
resul ts. SEM-EDX test
resul t show that
the whole process
of synt hesis had good
sol ubilit y were either on
a flat surface
area. Hardness test resul t s showed
the high levels
of cobalt alloy
hardness, while the
best of hardness is
at 345.24 VHN
generated by the
variati on of 33% Cr.
Corrosi on test resul ts showed
that the sample
of 31.5% and
34.5% Cr with
corrosi on rate of 0.016
and 0.17 mpy
has corrosi on rate
under the specified
of Europe standard value is 0.457
mpy. Viewed f rom
the data linearity
aspect, the cobalt
allo y wi t h 33% Cr
has the best
of microstructure and
mechanical properties among
the others. Theref ore, cobalt
alloy wi th 33% Cr variat i on
potential to be applied as an implant prosthesis.
