SOFT ISSUES AROUND MERGER AND ACQUIITION

Abstract: Mergers  and  acquisitions  across  border  attract  many  attentions  in  the  literature because  of  the  growth  of  this  international  M&As  activities.  However,  in  its implementation, M&As face many issues that will be discussed in this paper – cultural issues, integration issues, leadership issues, financial issues, and human resource issues. Systems approach to successful mergers and acquisitions is also discussed. Some important recommendations include depth studies before choosing this entry mode; cultural fit, sensitivity, and variability; socialization; cross border management skills;  and  psychological  integration,  financial  perceptions,  leadership  styles,  and managing employees perceptions. Most mergers are close to acquisitions, thus it is hard to find the difference between them in its implementation. Therefore, mostly, the issues of both Mergers and acquisitions can be managed in the same way.
