Level Analisis Sistem dan Teori Hubungan Internasional
Abstract: This paper describes
the application of the system-level analysis and international relations theories in
the case of
Arms Trade Treaty
(ATT) voting in
the General Assembly,
United Nations, in 2 April 2013.
System-level analysis is part of
the three levels
of analysis commonly
used in International Relations (IR).
This paper suggests
that the choice
of a specific
level of analysis
interlinks with the theory preference. In the case of
system-level analysis, all of the theories applied in analysing the ATT voting
assume the nature of the international system (international anarchy) affects
states behavior. In regard to the case of ATT voting, there are four research
questions raised in this paper. Firstly, what did the various results of
the ATT voting mean? Second, why did
Indonesia choose for abstention in the voting? Third, why did North Korea, Iran
and Syria decide to vote against ATT? And lastly, what will the future of arms
trade regime hold under the ATT?
