POLITIK LUAR NEGERI RUSIA TERHADAP PERLUASAN KEANGGOTAAN NATO DI EROPA TIMUR TAHUN 2002-2010

Abstract: After  the  collapse  of  the  Soviet  Union  in  1991,  followed  by  the dissolution  of  the  Warsaw  Pact  makes  NATO  emerged  as  the  only  existing Treaty  on  European  and  North  Atlantic. This  led  NATO  began  to  redefine  its policy to promote democracy and security not only in Western Europe but also to  the  region  of  Eastern  Europe,  bordering  Russia. This  expansion  is considered to disrupt security interests and become a serious threat to Russia's geopolitical  position.  It  make  Russia’s  will  lose  its  power in  the  post-Soviet states, and will make Russia become isolated.
The  Russian  government  since  2002-2010  continue  to  fight  efforts  by running  a  counter  foreign  policy  towards  NATO,  by  issuing  military  doctrines and military policy to stop the expansion of NATO to the East made. As well as cooperation with the CIS countries and Central Asia by establishing the CSTO and SCO with China. Russia has followed a strategy of deterrence or deterrent power  attitude  with  the  development  and  use  of  nuclear  weapons  in  order  to stop  the  expansion  of  NATO  and  its  allies  to  cancel  the  membership  and deployment of foreign troops in the region bordering Russia.
