BUILDING NATION THROUGH CHARACTER EDUCATION BASED ETHICS
Abstract: Indonesia needs of
human resources in sufficient quantity and quality as the main supporter of
thedevelopment. To meet the human resource, education has a crucial role. In
accordance with LawNo 20 of 2003 on National Education Systemin Section 3,
states that the national education servesto develop skills and form the character
and civilization of the nation's dignity in the context of theintellectual life
of the nation. Aims of national education elicits potential learners to become,
ahuman being faithful and devoted to God Almighty, noble, healthy,
knowledgeable, skilled, creative,independent, and become citizens of a
democratic andresponsible. Based on the function and purposeof national
education, it is clearthat education at every level, must be organized
systematically inorder to achieve that goal. Achievement of objectives related
to the formation of student charactersoas to compete, ethical, moral, polite
and interact with the community. Characters are the values ofhuman behavior
associated with the Almighty God, self, neighbor, neighborhood, and
nationalityembodied in the thoughts, attitudes, feelings, words, and actions
based on religius norms, laws,manners, culture, and customs. Character
education is an investment system the values of thecharacter of the citizens of
the school which includes the components ofknowledge, awareness orvolition, and
action to implement these values, both to the Almighty God (Almighty),
ourselves,others, environment, nationality so a manperfect man. In character
education inschools, all thecomponents (stakeholders) should be involved, including
the components of education itself.
