PENGARUH DAYA IRADIASI GELOMBANG MIKRO TERHADAP KUALITAS KARBON AKTIF CANGKANG BUAH KETAPANG SEBAGAI ADSORBEN ZAT WARNA
Abstract: Activated carbon had
successfully been made from shell of Terminalia Catappa L prepared
bycarbonization and KOH activation with microwave assisted process. The
activation process wascarried out at irradiations times of 20 minutes with
various power irradiation of 540 Watt, 630 Wattand 720 Watt. The physical
properties of activated carbon were characterized by scanning
electronmicroscopy, X-ray diffraction and methylene blue adsorption. The power
of microwave irradiationof 630 Watt resulted the highest methylene blue
absorption as high as 79,2688 mg/g.Microstructure analysis of the sample showed
that the height of layers (Lc) was inverseproportional to its stack diameter
(La) and interlayer distance was slightly affected d002 and d100 thepower of
microwave irradiation.
