STUDI GEJALA ARUS EDDY PADA PLAT ALUMUNIUM MENGGUNAKAN SOLENOID SILINDER
Abstract: Design and
experiment of Eddy current on aluminium plat using solenoid havebeen carried
out. Themagnetic field used is generated by two solenoids that connected with
series and parallel combination. The solenoids were designed with a turns of
400, diameter of 3,8cm and length of 10cm.Neodymium IronBoron magnets
(NdFeB)were used as a source of magnetic field for comparison. In order to
obtain highervalue of the magnetic field, it is necessary to introduce
ferromagnetic material (iron) as a core of thesolenoid. The value of the
magnetic field was measured using Pasco PS-2162Magnetic Probe. Eddycurrents
generated in the platare due to the change of magnetic flux as the plate moves
back and forthbetween the magnetic poles. the magnetic field value of the
solenoid was varied as a function of electriccurrent and distance. The
dimension of the alumunium plate is 10cm in length, 6cm in width andextended
witha stick having length of 20cm. The plates were designed with one slit,
three slits, and fourslits and no slit. Solenoids with a ferromagnetic core
were connected in series with a distance of 1.5 cmbetween them. The results
show that the highest value of magnetic field (37.8851 mT ) was produced
byapplying current of 7A on the circuit. Moreover, the number of oscillations
of the plats is affected by themagnetic field strength and the number of strips
on the plates. The more the number of strips on theplates, the more
oscillations occur. This phenomenon is due to the cuts (strips) in the plate
result in opencircuit reducing the Eddy current greatly. For oscillation by
usingNdFeB, the number of oscillation wassignificant decrease.
