ANALISIS INDEKS KEKERINGAN DI DAS ROKAN PROVINSI RIAU MENGGUNAKAN DATA CFSR

ABSTRACT: One of important component of the national drought strategy is a comprehensive drought monitoring system that can provide a warning at the early and the end stage of the drought, determine the severity level, and disseminate the drought information to various sectors. Due to the drought issues, this research is aimed to analyze the drought index on the Rokan Watershed, Riau Province. Drought index were analyzed using two methods, i.e. KBDI (Keetch-Byram Drought Index) and SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index). Due to the limited data from existing observation stations on the Rokan watershed, this research was using the data from the Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR) of the The National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). The CFSR rainfall data were corrected before the data were used. KBDI and SPI methods were used to analyze the spatial and temporal drought that occurred on the Rokan watershed. The relationship between distributions of the drought and hotspot was shown better relationship by the KBDI method compared with SPI method.
