KARAKTERISTIK TANIN DARI EKSTRAK KULIT KAYU LEDA (Eucalyptus deglupta Blume.)
ABSTRACT: Due to has a lot of
potential that can be utilized and the increasing number and availability of
sustainable wood bark, that was originally from wood industry waste, began to
become the center of attention. Bark extracts (tanin) is one of the potentials
contained in the bark that can be obtained by extraction. Wood bark may be used for various purposes such as
preservatives, tannins, adhesives, dyes, pharmaceuticals or other industrial
chemicals. This study aims to determine the content of extracts (tannin)
contained in the bark of Eucalyptus deglupta Blume and to determine the
physical and chemical properties of extracts and the tannin reactivity.
The study used four different solvents to extract tannins. E. deglupta
bark powder extracted with water, 0.5% Na2CO3 solvent, 0.5% Urea solvent and
black liquor solvent in which the ratio of solvent and bark powder of 1: 5. The
result of extraction yielded the varied average value which of 9,650%; 16,543%;
9,675% and 28,137% respectively with the average value of solid content of
2,75%; 5,642%; 3,399% and 9,869% respectively.
