FORMULASI MIKROEMULSI GLUKOSAMIN HIDROKLORIDA
Abstract: Glucosamine
Hydrochloride (Glucosamine HCl) is a compound that has been used as a
supplement for reducing joint narrowing and pain in osteoarthritis patients.
There are some factors which is still a challenge in glucosamine as a drug
development : large dose to absorbed in a transdermal route and maillard
product easily produced when glucosamine dissolved in water. This research aims
to develop glucosamine HCl for skin application by enhancing the permeability
toward stratum corneum and the stability of drug. Glucosamine HCl developed
into O/W microemulsion where the optimum formula are : glucosamine hydrochloride
15%, isopropyl myristate 4,2%, Tween 80 22,7%, isopropyl alcohol 5,7%, sodium
metabisulfite 0,1% and deionized water 52,3%. Characterization tests showed
that this preparation meet the requirements of microemulsion such organoleptic,
viscosity and globules size. Microemulsion showed their stability by
centrifugation test and quantification test using HPLC obtained glucosamine
hydrochloride 14,9%.
